Virtual Friend

I have met a few bloggers in person before; Saffa, Lan Diloz, Jem and I'm glad we're still keeping in touch. Oh wait, I don't count Lisa Farhana as my blogger friend cus we've been friends since we were kids.

So recently I got to meet Kamal Effendi in person for the first time after 4 years of being virtual friends. As written in Kamal Effendi's blog entry, there was no drama and everything went well that day but for me, there was a little drama. I was already dressed and had gotten ready early, but no one was there to send me to the LRT station. We've agreed to meet at 12, I had to wait for my brother to send me and when I reached there, I was 14 minutes late.

Guilty Level: Maximus

A lot of Indian tourists and too many crowds during the weekend, most of the guys were wearing glasses so it took me a while to scan his face. Meeting someone for the first time can be nerve-racking. We met somewhere nearby, I apologized for getting there late and we headed to Nando's for lunch. He was how he described in the text message. Of course, minus the ugly, dark and short part. He looks the same in every picture he takes, I don't know if I look the same in pictures as I do in person because girls tend to look different in pictures. Camera angle plays an important role sometimes.

We both tried Nando's new menu, ahh it was okay not like how it was promoted by the waiter zzz. Bumped into Lisa Farhana, was hoping to see Saffa and Jem as well but Lisa was out with her friends. We must hangout before I go back to China okayyy! So back to Kamal, we spent our lunch time talking about ourselves. I got distracted in our conversations when the Nando's staffs kept on welcoming every customer that stepped into the restaurant. Semak kepala terus rasa nak keluar lepas habis makan.

We went window shopping after lunch, my money and I didn't get along this time. Kamal did some shopping for himself and nope it's not awkward at all. I didn't take a lot of photos because I got camera shy. Lol after all, we have just met.

After prayers, we went to Kinokuniya for an obligatory visit. I was looking for some books by John Green. I been meaning to read The Fault in Our Stars and I instantly remember that Aca recommended me Looking for Alaska back in year 2008 but I forgot to read it last time. I was too caught up with the Twilight series. Lol zaman fangirling Edward Cullen from the books, it has become overrated after the first film was released.

We went to one of the book sections, and came across The Perks of Being A Wallflower and I got excited cus I've already read it and I feel like reading it again and I was telling Kamal how awesome the book is, when suddenly, "Shhhhh!". There was an old lady, sitting at the corner of the bookshelf quietly reading a book. Dia shh kitorang ni macam halau kucing yang nak curi ikan. By right, she shouldn't have done that because Kinokuniya is not a freaking library, it's a bookstore. If it's a library then I would have understood the shh part. I wouldn't make too much noise in the first place.

Next, coffee break! We had a random conversation and I found out that he actually wanted to be a doctor! I personally think he has his own way of thinking and style. He's a pretty friendly guy, he has the same character when in real life and online. I'm glad I wasn't socially awkward and my social skills were okay. I just hope my talking didn't annoy him.

He got me souvenirs from Australia and New Zealand. They are so cute! When I reached home I didn't even have a chance to keep it in a box, my baby brother Reza already threw the boomerang and with his poker face he asked me why it's not coming back. Krik krik krik.

Overall I had a good time. Thanks for keeping this virtual friendship alive and transform it into real life. May our friendship continue to grow!

Shawls and Accessories

There are so many sites out there offering cheap shawls and accessories but it's hard to find the one that sells good quality, beautiful and affordable. I don't usually buy shawl and accessories online but when I do, the shawls that I want are mostly sold-out.

Insert okay.jpg here

And for the past years I've been wearing the same type of brooch, coloured stone yang 3 or 4 or 5 for RM10. Simple and pretty.

I've seen people match their shawl with rose or other cute pins. There are many kinds of things to accessorize your shawl such as ribbons, headbands and brooches. You can easily get this kind of shawl accesories kat booth booth yang ada kat dalam supermarket or mall. Kalau rajin berjalan, kat night market lagi la banyak! Unless you're a high maintenance hijabster, k bai.

So I wanna try something new, something I've never worn before. I've looked online for some nice brooches, and found that despite the abundance of products on the web, there is no decent brooch that suits my taste.

And I came across this one account on Instagram few weeks before I came back to Malaysia for winter break and gave myself a try!

I received my parcel 2 days after I've confirmed my order, love her for her efficient service. I was really excited, I slowly opened the sealed envelope and OMG I can't take my eyes off those rose satin brooches.

Gotta love those satin rose brooches, soo pretty even Mama loved it! My sisters tak payah cakap la, kalau Mama dah suka diorang pun suka. We're rose lovers!

Shawl by Le Marquise

Accented with a hand made layered satin rose, very elegant and neatly rolled. The satin rose brooch impressed me with its elegant simplicity. I just wanna keep it simple and moderate. Less is more.

Serendipity

2013 has only just started yet I'm feeling unmotivated and apathetic. The weather has been gloomy all day, and I've been spending time alone in my room minding my own business. They say, Aquarians like being left alone but hate feeling lonely. I don't normally believe in astrology but I can actually relate myself to that statement.

Probably I'm affected by the weather accompanied with pre and post-exam stress. Well you know when you are alone in your room, you tend to think too much. And when something has upset you, you can't get it off your mind. I'm not good at expressing my feelings, so I keep everything bottled inside. Sometimes when I express myself, people misunderstood me.

"People understand me so poorly that they don't even understand my complaint about them not understanding me."
― Søren Kierkegaard

I'm unable to deliver my own thoughts and feelings and have always had difficulty communicating my thoughts to certain people in my life. I suck at words. I may look expressionless but different feelings and emotions was felt deep inside my heart. I wish that I could express what's in my heart without being misunderstood. I'm just a soul who's intentions are good.

Heh, enough with my bipolar thoughts.

This is just the beginning of 2013, I'm looking forward to this year and accomplishing new things for myself. I want to spend more time doing things that are productive such as going on adventures, exercising, learning a new hobby, or whatever. I'm going to read good books, and write more. I want to write more, and take more pictures. As you've noticed, I like writing and taking pictures. I want to do more of it, the only reason why I don't do it as much as I want to is because I don't have the time. Busy schedule. :(

I want to be more friendly, make more friends and keep those who appreciate me. I am a social person, as introverted as I am. I just can't express myself to people the way I think I can. It's all in my head. I want to love more. Not to be in love, but to show the love I have for the people in my life more especially towards my family and my close friends. Or maybe it should be "be more appreciative" I don't know if I show my gratitude as much as I should.

I want to fill this year with dreams and good madness. I want to improve myself and become a better person. I want to get closer to Allah SWT, and become a better Muslimah. A thousand times I've failed, but still Your mercy remains. I hope, somewhere in the next year, I surprise myself.

Ps: If you noticed, this post is not even related to its title. I can't think of any title for this post so I asked for some random titles on Twitter. So Lisa Farhana suggested this Serendipity title as it just popped into her mind. Sangat random.

2013

Page 366 of 366, I did my first final exam paper in the morning and spent my whole day sleeping. My sleeping pattern got really messed up, I woke up two hours before the clock strike midnight like a dead zombie. That's how I spent my last day of 2012. Student life, zzz.

So in 2012..
  1. I baked my own birthday cake - red velvet cake and had BBQ birthday dinner with my family.

  15. Anti-Japanese riots in Xi'an, China - fought over Japanese controlled islands.
  16. Donated blood for the first time to help a friend of mine who's battling leukemia.
  17. Took photo of myself with a Husky! I must say Huskies have always been my favorite breed.
  18. Organized a welcome dinner party for the juniors.
  19. A good friend of mine lost his dad to cancer. Al-Fatihah.
  20. Missed the Big Bad Wolf books sale in KL! ASDJALKSDJSLKDS!
  21. Got myself an Iron Man phone case.
  22. Attended my classmate's wedding, my first Hyderabadi wedding.
  23. Dropped my favorite coffee mug and it shattered into pieces along with my heart. Plus it's plain white mug, my favorite colour. RIP my favorite mug, it's been a good 3 years.

2012 was a bittersweet year for me. Had trials and triumphs, joys and sorrows. The Earth has completed another lap of about 942,477,796 kilometers around the Sun. Thank you Allah for giving me another year of life.

Today is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.

Chapter 2013. Page 1 of 365. The rest is still unwritten.

Happy New Year 2013!
Follow your dreams, wherever they take you.
